When data center managers, UPS manufacturers, and third party battery maintenance providers find out that BatteryDAQ provides comprehensive battery monitoring systems that cost a fraction of the battery string, and considerably less than our competitors, the next question they ask is regarding our installations.

This video highlights one of the hundreds of data centers throughout the world that rely on BatteryDAQ’s proven battery monitoring technology to ensure that their DC power systems will perform as designed, when called upon. The reality is, battery racks allow little or no room for a BMS unit. In fact, we always strongly recommend an early phase detailed discussion with the data center designer, to ensure a perfect installation.

Battery Monitoring in Corrosive Environments

Most battery rooms with vented lead acid batteries present big challenges for battery monitoring equipment. Well maintained vented/flooded batteries will last for 20+ years, but battery monitoring equipment not specifically designed for the corrosive environment will not last, and will become an ongoing maintenance concern, if not a waste of money.

Without mentioning any products or brand names, the picture above shows a “well” installed battery monitoring system. The wiring and clips appear to be OK. However, the main unit has ventilation slots that expose its circuit board to the acid gas environment. An option would be to install the main unit to the other side of the wall, on which it is mounted, but that creates many other inconveniences.
